Getting started with Table Tennis

Take a moment with Table Tennis before moving to another game. Reach eleven points with a two-point lead. Use the example below to understand a decision. Treat the first round as a chance to learn the controls. Look at what changes after your first action.

rally/service model, win-by-two and alternating deuce service.

Give this approach a try

Read one step at a time and try it on the playing area. Match the instruction to the control you use. Make the next step deliberately.

Your objective

Reach eleven points with a two-point lead. The feedback beside the game helps you follow the round. Check the rules when you are unsure.

Making your moves

  1. Serve.
  2. Move the lower paddle under the ball.
  3. Hit after the bounce near your baseline.
  4. A missed return gives a point.

Choosing and moving on screen

Pointer/paddle buttons; Hit / return; Space serves or hits. On a smaller screen, keep the active part of the board within view. Contact us with the game and device if a control does not respond.

Put the rules into context

An early hit is rejected; wait while positioning the paddle. Compare this with the rule that governs the move. Keep the controls nearby.

Where a round can go wrong

The ball-flight model is timing-based, not full tournament physics. Check the rule before repeating the action. Locate the buttons and input area before beginning a long round. Use the on-screen labels to avoid an accidental restart.
