Your guide to Ultimate Tic-Tac-Toe

Use a short break to learn the rhythm of Ultimate Tic-Tac-Toe. Win three mini-boards in a row on the large board. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move. Read the objective before making your first input. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions.

Same-device two players.

A small practice goal

Before your first action, say what you are trying to achieve. Then compare the result with the goal. Make the next step deliberately.

What you need to achieve

Win three mini-boards in a row on the large board. The feedback beside the game helps you follow the round. Start with a deliberate move.

Making your moves

  1. Play inside the required mini-board.
  2. Your selected square sends the opponent to the corresponding mini-board.
  3. A closed required board permits play in any open board.
  4. Win local boards, then a large-board line.

Keyboard and screen controls

Click or tap a piece and destination; use the turn indicator and legal-move feedback. On a smaller screen, keep the active part of the board within view. A new-round button replaces the current round.

Put the rules into context

A top-right cell sends the next player to the top-right mini-board. Apply the same reasoning to the position in your own round. Choose a deliberate next step.

Keep this in mind

A single local win does not finish the overall game. Take a moment to reassess the position before continuing. Watch the feedback after an action. A message can explain whether the input was accepted or whether a rule needs attention.
